Unique You

Assignment: Be prepared to share what’s special about your cousins.

Discussion: We are all unique, wonderfully created by God. Point out some differences among them, indicating that being different is not wrong, it’s different.

Visual: Stones of remembrance. We have a stone for each special blessing in our lives, including the addition of each of our grandchildren. I selected those stones from the collection, each marked with a name & birthdate, but you can gather & mark your own stones. One child came up and selected a stone, saying what was special about that cousin. Then the others were invited to chime in.

Craft: I gave each one a six-inch wooden initial for their name and pointed out that, because they’re all different, each letter will be decorated uniquely. Each put their letter on a page of newspaper and painted their own pattern, some adding stickers or jewels.

Lunch: Personalized peanut butter sandwiches. They had choices of white or wheat bread, peanut butter, jelly, Nutella or marshmallow fluff. Then they chose cookie cutters to cut their sandwiches into unique shapes.

Dessert: A variety of ice pops to again stress personal preference differences.
